Some cool stuff here in a variety of styles, the usual grunge, some fractal and even a rising sun starburst effect.

A nice intro to Amazon’s S3 file serving service. An interesting and cost effective way to scale a site when it comes to storage. Good job making this approachable Craig and Mike.

Luke has yet another post delving into the details of form design, this time concentrating on address collection. He presented an interesting example that shows how an effort to simplify may in fact be a step in the wrong direction, it’s definitely worth the quick read. An interesting observation in his second example that popped up, was how Apple placed the form fields in the same physical location and order as you would when filling out an envelope. Making the form feel as familiar as possible, even those more used to paper email then digital.
I have to confess I’m a bit of a fan boy, Luke’s upcoming book should be due out soonish and its tops on my to-buy list.

For my job I recently was assigned a Macbook Pro laptop. As I’ve grown to love the OS I still find there is much to improve as far as functionality. This enhanced Quicklook plugin allows you to view the contents of a folder while in quicklook view. Nice!

Design Meltdown has a cool little screencast of various drop down menus. Better then screenshots, though I’d like to see a screenshot for each option, then a mini-screenshot showing just that one menu.
This looks like a site worth glancing at occasionally. Never can tell when a new photoshop technique will inspire something.

Now this is an interesting design challenge. Fit a full year’s calendar on a slip of paper the size of a credit card. Some interesting ideas. My favorit is #3.

Don’t forget, my Yanqui readers, the true meaning of Thanksgiving:
give your neighbours an infected blanket this Thursday and then
move into their houses after they’re dead.

On the off chance that anyone is subscribing to my RSS at this juncture, sorry for any garbage posts. I’ve just installed a new ExpressionEngine plugin called Feedgrab that pulls RSS feeds from a valid feed and incorporates them into my weblog. This allows me to take my del.icio.us feed and syndicate it into a “bootleg” tumble log. I control which items get published by filtering by a tag in del.icious.us called “blogme”.
Yup I’m clever
