UI Pattern Factory is a really interesting idea. Powered by a Flickr group, you can join and add your own UI examples, then add them to the group. A few minutes they appear on the site. Cool idea and some good examples.

One of my favorite online comic writers decided to return to his roots (not that he ever really left) and give up newspaper syndication to concentrate on his online ventures. A short and interesting read on how one artists made it on his own. I met him a few years ago and my biggest impressions where that he was incredibly witty and incredibly smart (also a nice guy).
